If you’re looking for easy ways to achieve dramatic results (pun intended) in social skills therapy, drama is a powerful teaching tool!
I promise that it’s actually quite easy and today I have an extra special FREEBIE to make it even easier!
Since social pragmatic language covers a host of sub-areas, today’s focus will be on (1) tone-of-voice, (2) body-language and (3) vocal volume.
(Drama provides a powerful way to focus on a huge range of additional social skills including: perspective-taking, emotional literacy, friendship skills and problem-solving).
All you need is a dice and you’re good to go! It’s easy as 1-2-3!
Simply, roll a dice three times and ask your student to read the line using the tone-of-voice, body language and vocal volume corresponding to the number on the dice! (You can also work on perpective-taking by discussing different situations in which the student might read the line in a particular tone-of-voice).
