Speech Therapy Scheduling Survival Pack

We all learn through experience.  When I first started working as a school-based SLP, I figured creating a therapy schedule would go smoothly and quickly with a few minor hiccups along the way…

Several dull pencils and worn erasers later, reality set in.  Making a speech schedule for a large caseload was no easy task. My efforts to be flexible with teachers left me darting back and forth between classrooms saying things like:

“I know I was going to take Johnny and Jenny on A-Days at 8:30 but would it be okay if I reschedule to C-Days because another teacher told me I need to move his student to A-Day so he doesn’t get pulled from literacy block or specials. Oh, Johnny and Jenny have band every other A-Day at 8:30? No, I can’t do therapy every other week because consistent therapy is important and legally required. I will see if I can move a different group and get back to you.”

After making it through the painstaking and seemingly endless scheduling process, I vowed I would begin the next school year armed to face every scheduling challenge.  Now with valuable experience under my belt, I’m proud to say I’ve achieved my goal of making the scheduling process straightforward and smooth, which led to the creation of the Speech Therapy Scheduling Survival Pack.  Want to take a peek?

I have found it immensely beneficial to have clear, positive and concise communication with teachers from the very beginning of the school year, which is why I devoted an entire section to teacher communication.  This section includes:

– An editable Speech Scheduling Newsletter, explaining the role and importance of speech/language services, service delivery, the scheduling process and setting a positive tone for the school year.  There is also “IEP Snapshot Form” {Editable} for teachers to get a sense of student needs.

– Caseload organizer by teacher (for easy newsletter distribution)

– Adorable teacher Candy Bag Tags to set a positive tone for the school year

– Editable teacher and student “Speech-Time Reminder Cards”

f24There are so many variables that influence how we create therapy groups.  To make this process a whole lot easier (and more efficient), I’ve included valuable tips and editable forms to group students according to goals, service delivery and learning styles.

Given the sheer amount of schedule conflicts in a school day (i.e. specials, lunch, recess, literacy block, resource, math…you get the idea), it can be difficult to know when students in different grades are actually available!

Problem solved! This packet includes thoughtful (and editable) forms that will make this process easy and stress-free.

The highlight of this 50+ page editable packet is the Speech Scheduler, which allows you to create your speech schedule in just four easy steps!  Here, you will see a step-by-step, photographed method that includes a  *highly customized, pre-measured form* for easy schedule creation.

As a bonus, you will also receive attractive, editable templates to display your final schedule when it’s complete!

This editable packet gives you the option of printing in black-and-white or color ink.

Here is a video to show you how this Survival Pack lives up to it’s name!

  • This looks like something that would assist me in downsizing my adaptation of my school schedule with the FIVE school schedules of my school children along with the four college schedules of my college age children combined with my college sorority advisory board schedule as we attempt to mesh it with the athletic schedules of the 5 children and my fiance while we intersperse the remaining 6 other children’s real life lives. CNow we are considering an exchange student as well….. If you think this sounds hectic?? Add two adults with university schedules of their own on top of this as well!!! YES!!! I NEED This product!!!!
